Probably. The main point of me watch Kuroshitsuji II was probably that there’s gonna be a blonde shota voiced by Nana Mizuki.
“Tadaa~ my ring~ Its better than Alois’s or Ciel’s and its made of paper!”
This episode just eradicated the sole reason why many are watching this show and they have probably already decided to drop this too.
Kuroshitsuji II, thanks for trolling me for the past 8 weeks.
Straight forward summary of this episode: Alois dies. orz
Not immediately but, it annoys me that Claude is still pretending to want Alois’s soul. And he smiles. Even Alois thinks its creepy.
There’s is something seriously screwed with the perspective of the BG of the above screenshot…
I digress, we got to see Alois’s past, finally. Alois’s real name is Jim, he and his younger brother Luca lives in a village where they are looked down at. One fine day the village gets burnt down and everyone dies. Alois is happy.
This is cute if only they weren’t happy about a village fire and death
Luca somehow drops dead and leaves Alois alone. He gets picked off to this old perverts house and learns how to call fairies which really are demons. He seduces old pervert with a kimono and becomes his son. Old pervert dies. Alois and Claude proceeds to attempt to get Ciel.
Nothing good happens when he shows up.
All this happens in a carriage and well, the gayest gay of the show shows up. Gets in fight with Hannah but not important.
Alois crawls away. Nearly gets attacked by a dog until Claude shows up. He, well I don’t know what he does but its sure made a mess, lots of blood. He takes Alois’s ring saying that it’ll become useful or something.
*cue sad ED song by Kalafina*
I have nothing against Kalafina but… It would have done Alois more justice if Nana performed the ED for this episode…
*Seiyuu POV**NOOOOOO*
We could take it as Hannah took Alois’s soul or the soul is kept in that ring which would cause lots of problems next week and Hannah was just poking Alois’s eyes out of revenge.
Either way, I am done with this anime.

Sorry that my rant is long again but I can’t help after watching this ep. IMO it is the best episode of both seasons and it totally give out very strong impact to the audiences. It redeems my hope for this series a little bit.
I watched EP8 via Keyhole and feel sad seeing how miserable Alois’ whole life was even though I don’t understand majority of the dialogue and seeing the sub version makes me feel more depressed. The way they handle Alois’ character was nicely done. He has character depth, the reason why he is who he is and his unexpected tragic ending. Anyone who isn’t heartless or blinded by strong hate to this character will be sad and pity him. It’s been a while since I feel for an anime character…Good job, A1. I haven’t felt this depressed with anime for a while.
If you visit many Kuroshitsuji forums now you will be surprised by many fangirls, who used to hate him (and Nana) with all their guts, now crying their eyes out, begging him to be alive and also arguing with old characters’ hardcore fans, who are still hate this boy (and don’t let me start on how Claude is bashed XD). IMO he achieve his goal gracefully as an anime character, to make audiences feel deeply for him. He’s a great character without a doubt.
BTW, I think Alois isn’t really dead. Not yet. Some people speculated that Claude puts his soul in the ring and will make Ciel wears it, thus combines Alois’ soul with Ciel’s and make tastier meal for him (he’s a greedy spider). He might be still around but the chance we will see Nana as Alois again after this ep is quite low. He may appear as flashback or has little role around the very end of this season. From now on, it’s likely to be Maaya as Ciel/Alois instead, which I don’t think I will appreciate it since I feel that Maaya’s boy voice fits for a serious character not the psychotic bratty one. Damn, I will miss Alois’ pretty face and Nana’s psychotic laugh and bitchy but sinister boy voice. Not to mention sexy seductive voice she used when Alois is in that red Kimono (deadly combo) XD.
I think I will continue watching it to see how they will handle plot after this. If it’s not turns out to be a boring all-roads-lead-to-happy-ending-for-SebxCiel, I think I will watch it to the end. I’m also interesed in Hannah. Wanting to know more about her and what she would do for Alois. She seems like a nice character. Maybe she will find a way to help him as we saw her said something about his wish and maybe we will see Nana’s Alois again.
Haha, I must admit Alois is on the same level as Fate in term of my favourite Nana’s anime character now. If he stays longer (and still voiced by Nana), I’m afraid that he may beat Fate XD Can’t believe that I like this blonde boy this much while he appeared in only 5 episodes. Good job Alois and I’m glad that Nana is selected to voice him. Finally, good main role that shows off her VA skill in famous anime XD I want her to voice an awesome character like him again (wish Shinakoi to be animated soon without changing seiyuu).
I actually like reading your rants, they tend to be rather insightful, partly since I’m somehow always half asleep when I write about Kuroshitsuji…
I didn’t watch season 1 but admittedly, I enjoyed looking at Alois’s past. They certainly did a good job on making his “death” tragic. I also noticed how everyone is now feeling pity for Alois. Its no surprise that Claude would get bashed, the only good thing about him is probably his glasses.
I’m seconding your thoughts on Alois and your theory. Since Ciel hasn’t exactly carried out his revenge and he still need alois as his target. Incidentally, I was reminded of Etsuraku Camielia in that Kimono seducing scene…
Rather than Hannah, I’m actually curious about the triplets too. They don’t really have much lines and seem rather robotic but they’re intriguing. I’m also rather curious what exactly did a Hannah do to Alois in the end and why Hannah is so loyal to him despite his sadistic and highly abusive tendencies…
I still like Fate more but, I definitely will miss hearing Alois go “Ole” or him giving sadistic laughter. It’d be good if Nana gets more chances to voice roles that allows her to display her awesome skills. Who would have thought that Alois would sound like that?
Yeah, I’m giving it a few more episodes, see if I can make myself like Ciel and Sebastian. If not, I’ll just go back to reading the manga
Haha, if you don’t mind, I will post another long one XD.
I watched season 1 because I quite like Yana’s art but I’m not so impressed with it. Many filler eps bored me that I had to skip some. Maybe it’s because I’m not a SebxCiel fangirl and I’m not crazy over Maaya or OnoD.
I’m neutral with Ciel since tsundere and snobbish character is not my type. I only like him when he was teased and acted out of his I’m-so-cool self. I quite like Sebastain though. I like his sarcastic but playful nature but I’m not crazy over him, so I don’t seriously ship this couple and the loving-couple fanservices in season 2 makes me feel bored with them. Claude is ok but he’s a little bit boring. Alois, however, is my instant love after I watched EP1 (not only because Nana voices him). I think it’s because I often have a soft spot for crazy characters who, in fact, has tragic background that drive them mad and Alois seemed to be one (he definitely is).
I think the triplets are Claude’s minion and that’s why they never talk since they are parts of Claude. Someone in Kuroshitsuji forum gave a theory that they are “the spider demon’s legs”. If we count Claude in human form’s legs and the triplets’, there are total 8, which equals spider’s leg.
About Hannah, some people think that she is a fairy that Alois was searching for or she is a demon that Luca had contracted with and he might ask her to kill the villagers and protected Jim/Alois. But I ‘m thinking about a crazier theory that maybe Hannah is Alois’ deceased mom. We knew from Arnold’s words that she committed suicide after the baby Alois was kidnapped. She might became a demon after that. What if Jim is the real Alois Trancy, who was kidnapped as a baby, and the kidnapper dropped him at that village and was adopted by some villagers (Luca’s parents) adopted him? That might be a reason why Hannah could tolerate all abuses from him. However, I admit that I don’t want it to ends up like this since it will make the story more twisted and sick that Earl Trancy had sex with his own son.
Yes, I’m glad that Nana got this role. Though she isn’t one of the greats in seiyuu term, she has wide range in VA skill but hasn’t gotten many chances to show it. It’s good to see that people who used to say “Mizuki Nana? Yuck! She can’t do boy role!!”or “No!! That annoying Hinata’s voice will be a new shouta. Hate! Hate!” now said something like “she did a great job as a psycho boy, her Alois is perfect” or ” I like Alois’ voice, she exceeds my expectation”. I’m glad to see more girls try her songs and like them after Kuroshitsuji II was aired. It’s good that more people realized that Nana isn’t famous because she’s only a burikko idol that otaku males craved.
Honestly, I think you need to go write your own blog…
From the manga, Ciel, just isn’t my type. He’s just too serious and uptight over everything. It makes him dull and predictable at times. I’m not crazy over Sebastian either. The way he constantly teases and annoys Ciel makes the story more interesting but his Mr Perfect attitude towards everything just plain irritates me. It seems as though the anime is just to boost the popularity of these 2 from the success of the manga.
Alois, for me is a totally original and fresh character in Kuroshitsuji II that adds life to the series. Him being bipopular, abusive, sometimes cheerful, occasionally serious; we get to see all different sides of him, compared to Ciel whom is just boring. As for Claude, he’s the second demon butler in the series. You’d think they’d make him more unique, but no, he’s rather stony, serious and another Mr Perfect…
I always wonder how people come up with all these various theories… My own theories sound rather improbable and makes no sense so I don’t say them, lol.
Actually I always felt that there is something seriously wrong and twisted about Kuroshitsuji. Maybe its all the yaoi. Or the abusive Alois. Or the soul lusting demons… The late Earl Trancy is definitely a broken and twisted character though.
Nana’s role in this anime, though short lived, definitely left an impression on the viewers who pay attention to the cast list. I’d actually prefer it if she got more roles instead of breaking into mainstream but that just my opinion.
Ah, sorry that I wrote too long. It’s hard to find someone who isn’t fangirling over Sebastain to discuss about this anime, so I was enjoy talking too much. ^^”
I agree that I’d better create a blog to post my long rants. Will do it soon.
Ah I was enjoying it too, especially since virtually all my classmates who watch this are sebastian fangirls…
Yeah, if you get yourself a blog, drop me a message or something, I’ll link you up~
Anyway, I can’t help thinking about dirty stuffs when I see your second and third screencaps. Not only Alois’s bipolar, he’s also bisexual XD LOL
/avoid thinking in seiyuu POV to prevent my brain from exploding
